We went to Eskdale yesterday:

There is a very small parking area on Eskdale Rd. The bush walks are well-maintained gravel pathways, but even so you'd need gumboots if the weather's been wet as it gets really muddy in places. Good off-leash walking though - dogs enjoyed it!

Saw a sign on Sunday afternoon when I took Shado (my siberian huskie) that said "STOP KAURI DIEBACK - Keep your dog on a lead at all times" among other things. Had a great walk through the park beforehand though. Quite muddy and tracks are a bit average in places.
